மெய்நிகர் நூலகம் (இணையவழி) திறப்புவிழா (யாழ் பொதுநூலகத்தின் 40ஆம் ஆண்டு நினைவின் வலியோடு)

உலகப்பரப்பில்இ புலம்பெயர்ந்து வாழும் தமிழர்களின் இரண்டாம் தலைமுறை இளையோர்கள்இ இலங்கைதீவின் வடக்கு-கிழக்கில் வாழும் ஈழத்தமிழர்களின் மரபின் தொடர்ச்சியாகவும்இ தமிழீழ மக்களின் நல்லாசியுடனும்இ தமிழ்நாட்டுத் தமிழர்களின் வாழ்த்துக்களோடும்இ வருகிற மே 30ஆம் நாள் (2021) அன்றுஇ யாழ் பொது நூலக எரிப்பின் 40ஆம் ஆண்டு நினைவின் வலிகளை எடுத்தியம்பும் விதமாகஇ இணையவழியில் மெய்நிகர் நூலகத் திறப்புவிழா மேற்கொள்கிறோம்.

யாழ் நூலகம்இ தமிழர் தேசத்தின் அறிவுக்களஞ்சியமாகவும் தமிழர் சிந்தனையை வளர்த்தெடுத்த பேரியக்கமாகவும் விளங்கியது.

1981ஆம் ஆண்டுஇ மே 31 ஆம் நாள் இரவில்இ தமிழர்களின் வரலாறுகளையும் தொன்மங்களையும் சுமந்திருந்த ஓலைச்சுவடிகளோடும் 96000ற்கும் மேற்பட்ட நூல்களையும் கொண்டுஇ தென் ஆசியாவின் பெரிய ‘வரலாற்று நூலகம்’ என உலகப் புகழ்ப்பெற்றிருந்த யாழ் நூலகத்தினைஇ சிங்கள காடையர்கள் சிங்கள அரசியல்வாதிகளின் தூண்டுதலால் எரித்து சாம்பலாக்கினர். கிடைப்பதற்கரிய வரலாற்று நூல்களும் ஆவணங்களும் இனி தமிழர் கைகளுக்கு எப்பொழுதும் கிடைக்கவே கூடாது என்ற சிங்களப் பேரினவாதத்தின் நோக்கம் நிறைவேறியது எனலாம். தமிழர்களின் தேசத்தினையும் இறையாண்மையையும் அழித்த அதே சிங்கள சிந்தனைவாதம்இ தமிழர்களின் பண்பாட்டு அடையாளங்களையும் தொன்மைங்களையும் அழித்து பண்பாட்டு இனவழிப்பின் முக்கிய நிகழ்வையும் பதிவு செய்தது. கொடூரமான மனித குல பேரழிப்பினை சிங்கள பேரினவாதம் நிகழ்த்தியபொழுது வேடிக்கை பார்த்த சர்வதேச சமூகம் யாழ் நூலக எரிப்பின் பண்பாட்டு இனவழிப்பின் பொழுதும்இ 40ஆண்டுகள் கடந்த பின்பும்இ அதே அமைதியோடு வேடிக்கைப் பார்க்கிறது.

இனவழிப்புப் போரின் தொடர்ச்சியாகஇ இலங்கைத் தீவினுள் இருக்கும் தமிழர் தேசஇ தமிழர் வரலாற்று அடையாளங்களையும்இ இணையவழியில் ஆங்காங்கே இருக்கும் தகவல்கள்இ ஆவணங்கள் மற்றும் காணொலிகளையும் திட்டமிட்ட வகையில்இ சிங்களப் பேரினவாதமும் அதன் கூட்டாளி நாடுகளும் தொடர்ந்தும் அழித்து வருகிறது.

இத்தகைய பின்னணியில் இருந்துஇ யாழ் நூலக எரிப்பின் 40ஆம் ஆண்டு நினைவின் நிகழ்வாகவும்இ தமிழர்கள் புலம்பெயர்ந்து நாடுகளில் பிறந்துஇ வளரும் இரண்டு தலைமுறை இளையோர்களின் பெரும் முயற்சியில்இ தமிழர்களின் வரலாறுஇ தேசியஇ இறையாண்மை அடையாளங்கள் கொண்ட அரசியல் ஆவணங்கள்இ நூல்கள்இ தமிழர் பண்பாடுஇ தொல்லியல் ஆவணங்கள் என பலவற்றையும் வரிசைப்படுத்திஇ இணையவழியில் நூலகமாக உருவாக்கியுள்ளனர்.

நூலகத் திறப்பின் பின்னரும்இ தொடர்ந்து அதனை மேம்படுத்த வேண்டியுள்ள பல பணிகள் காத்திருப்பதால்இ இ எம் மெய்நிகர் நூலகத்தினை தரம் உயர்த்தவும்இ வழிகாட்டவும்இ எமது அடுத்தடுத்த தலைமுறைகள் தமிழர்களின் வரலாற்றினை படித்து அறிந்துக்கொள்ளும் நம்பகமான தளமாக மாற்றவும் இணையவழியில் எம்மோடு இணைந்து தன்னார்வலர்கள் முன்வர அழைப்புவிடுக்கிறோம்.

Online Library Launch
40th Anniversary of the Burning of Jaffna Public Library

It is with great delight that the second generation of the Tamil diaspora, with a heritage from the North and East of the island of Sri Lanka, together with friends from Tamil Nadu, India wish to announce the launch of the online Tamil Eelam Library www.telibrary.com on the 31st May 2021.

This day is indeed historic as it marks the 40th anniversary of the loss of the contents of the Jaffna public library, an indelible memory on the soul of the Tamil nation.

On the night of the 31st May 1981, the renowned Jaffna public library in northern Sri Lanka, which held many rare historical Tamil palm leaf documents and considered one of South Asia’s largest historical libraries, was set alight by arsonists. More than 96 000 Tamil archives and literature were burnt to ashes and lost forever. It is considered an immense cultural loss among the Tamil community and an act of cultural genocide. Sadly, this act did not receive the international attention and condemnation it deserved leading to further losses over the years.

In recent times of conflict further targeted damage and destruction to Tamil historical sites and artefacts across the island has added to the loss. Online historical resources and records of the Tamil political struggle and history also continue to be systematically erased.
It is in this backdrop and on the 40th anniversary of the burning of the Jaffna public library that the youth of the Tamil Diaspora have launched this initiative to form a non-politically aligned online library and resource centre relating to all aspects of the Tamil cultural, historical and political identity.

It is hoped that more volunteers will join us to assist in adding to the online repository and verifying facts and neutrality as well as to promote the site as a first point of reference on Tamil and Tamil Eelam related matters for future generations.
We welcome all visitors to the site to help add to this online repository as well as provide suggestions on improving the neutrality of the site.
